Two Arrested in Pinarayi e-Mail Case

Two persons, who allegedly sent e-mails to many people with an intention to defame CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan, were arrested on Monday, said police.

Identified as Karthik and Manoj, the two were arrested under the IT Act for making modifications in an e-mail message that contained a picture of a palatial building stating that “leader of working class party Pinarayi Vijayan” own the structure, said police.

Karthik is from Eattumanur town in Kottayam district and Manoj Kayamkulam in Alappuzha district.

It was found in investigation that the building in the e-mail was that of a Kunnamkulam-based businessman in Thrissur district.

The main accused and the creator of the e-mail was yet to be arrested, police said, adding that the investigation was carried out on a complaint filed by Vijayan.
