Reaching Mandu by Train:
Railways can also be good options to reach Mandu. The nearest railhead is Ratlam – on the Delhi-Mumbai main line. The other option of availing the railways while reaching Mandu is the Indore railway station on a branch route, which is 99 km from the city of Mandu.

Mandu or Mandavgarh, in the Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh is a city of ruins once named Shadiabad by Allauddin Khilji for being a virtual Shangri-La, a land of plenty with no poor and each time the poor migrated to the city the residents donated a brick and an Asharfi (gold coin) so that the less fortunate could be brought at par with the rest of the city.
