Three Children Killed as Abandoned Ammunition Blasts

Three children were killed in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district as ammunition abandoned near a firing range used by the Indian Army and Border Security Force (BSF) exploded, said media reports.

The children, who were killed on the spot while attempting to break the ammunition to recover scrap and leader causing blast, as identified as Shahil, Rahul and Chandan, said reports citing police.

“Three children, aged 10 to 12 years, were killed Tuesday when they tried to break the used shells of mortars near the army firing range,” an official was quoted as saying.

“A team of police’s bomb disposal squad has cordoned off the area and is conducting a search to find out more about the abandoned shells, if any,” he added.
