LUCKNOW: On Wednesday the Lucknow district administration cancelled its permission for an interactive talk show between students and the star cast of the Prakash Jha movie Aarakshan (reservation) fearing law and order problem.

Aarakshan team including Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Manoj Bajpai, and Jha were expected to participate in the movie’s promotional event on Thursday at a private school auditorium.

The administration had earlier given its nod for the event at City Montessori School auditorium in Gomti Nagar area.

Ram Singhasan Prem, additional district magistrate, Trans Gomti area, said, “The permission has been cancelled. The second police report that we received hinted that the event could lead to a law and order situation in the city,”

Till Tuesday, 940 students had registered their names for participation in the show. Of them, 400 were to be selected to interact with the actors.

Earlier, the Lucknow University and the Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University in the city had denied permission for similar promotional debates for the movie on their campus.

When contacted, Jha said, “I am not aware of anything.”

Arun Srivastava local co-coordinator of the event said, “We have just received the notice of cancellation. I had a word with Jha. He is yet to revert on the strategy.” Srivastava said the cancellation was only for the talk show and not a scheduled press conference.
