Threatening to intensify their bloody campaign, suspected Maoists today shot dead four CPM supporters and dumped their bodies on the state highway at Belpahari near Lalgarh in West Midnapore district, reported PTI.

Police said that rebels shot the victims from point blank range early in the morning calling them ‘police informers’ and left their bodies on Silda-Bankura road near Anthela village, report said.

The victims were identified as Ashok Ahir, Swapan Ahir, Sanatan Ahir and Nazrul Mir, said report.

All the four middle-aged CPM supporters were picked up from their residence at Chandabila village in close-by Binpur police station by a group of 20 armed Maoist cadre last midnight, report said.

Police said that they had been missing since then and their bodies were recovered this morning as members of a team of police and paramilitary forces who reached the spot, said report.

The police have seized Maoist literature and posters strewn near the bodies condemning the four as ‘police informers’.
