State Govt to Allot Land for Construction of Buddhist Varsity at Sanchi

Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the state government would allot land for construction of a Buddhist university in Sanchi by Sri Lankan Government.
He said that he agreed to the proposal put forth by visiting Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayake to establish a varsity at the Buddhist tourist site.
Chouhan said that Sri Lankan government would fund building of the university while the role of Madhya Pradesh government would be limited to providing land.
He expressed hope that the university, once set up, would be able to attract students from other Buddhist countries apart from Sri Lanka.
