Sheila Dikshit, MS Gill Meet PM on Commonwealth Games Preparation

Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit, accompanied with Union Sports Minister MS Gill, met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday at his Race Course Road residence and briefed him about the status of infrastructure projects being implemented ahead of the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

The meeting took place amid intense criticism that crucial infrastructure projects might not finish till October 2010 deadline. Flak has come for Delhi government for delay in construction of virtually every infrastructure project being undertaken for the big sports event.

Miffed with the slow pace of preparation, Commonwealth Games Federation President Michael Fennel sought the Prime Minister’s intervention in September, to put things in order.
