Pakistani-born Canadian national and suspected Lashkar operative Tahawwur Hussain Rana is likely to be indicted as the January 14 deadline comes to an end tomorrow, with indictment possibly including additional charges resulting from Mumbai terror attacks, said media reports.

PTI reported that prosecutors allege that the 49-year-old Rana, who was arrested by FBI in October last year on terror charges, ‘knew in advance’ of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks and complimented terror group LeT for executing terror strikes.

According to a report on ABC7News, the grand jury indictment could include additional charges against Rana resulting from 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

The FBI was granted a 58-day extension in November last year to file indictment against Rana, whose wider involvement in an international terror scheme became apparent when co-defendant Pakistani-American David Coleman Headley began cooperating with the investigations.

Headley has been charged with conspiring in the Mumbai attacks and the US government says ‘he is cooperating in the investigation’.

Law enforcement officials say there are major points of connection between Rana and Headley and the Mumbai attack, said PTI report.
