Rajapaksa Ready to Face Polls: Lanka Govt

Keeping the opposition in suspense about the presidential elections dates, Sri Lankan government has said that there are still two years before President Mahinda Rajapaksa completes his term but that he is prepared to face election confidently anytime.

Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Minister of Mass Media and Information said that the most trusted and strongest force in the country is the alliance headed by the ruling Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) under the leadership of Rajapaksa.

“The President has two more years to complete his first term in office but the President and his government is ready to face any type of election confidently at any given time,” he said yesterday.

Yapa said that the President’s decision regarding a Presidential or Parliamentary election would be known shortly.
