President Pratibha Patil has concluded her six-day state visit to China, being considered as one of the most high-profile trip by an Indian head of state to that country, said media reports.

After visiting a Jade Buddhist temple in Shanghai and gifting a statue of Buddha to it, Patil left for home, reports said.

She addressed a meeting of Indian and Chinese businessmen before departing, said reports.

In her six-day visit started May 26, Patil met almost all top Chinese leaders, including president Hu Jintao and premier Wen Jiabao.

Chinese leaders assured Patil of China’s support to India’s aspirations for a permanent UNSC seat as well as its support for India’s bid to get elected as a non-permanent member.

India is seeing this as a major positive outcome of the visit.

Touching on the growing bilateral trade relations, Chinese leaders assured that their country would ‘seriously’ address India’s concerns.

The issue of Tibet also figured during Patil’s talks with Jia Qinglin, chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

She reiterated that India’s stand that Tibet is a part of China and India would not allow its soil to be used for anti Chinese activities.

Chinese state run TV and print media widely covered her visit.
