Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has called a meeting of leaders of various political parties on April 5 for discussion on the Women’s Reservation Bill, said media reports.

Mukherjee called the meeting due to the sharp opposition to the Bill by the Yadavs – Mulayam Singh, Lalu Prasad and Sharad, apart from BSP.

The Rajya passed the historical legislation on May 9, 2010 with support of 186 members and it is to be tabled in Lok Sabha as it assembles again for second phase of Budget session on April 15.

Earlier on Mar 30, Law Minister, M Veerappa Moily had said that the government would go ahead with the Bill in its present form in the Lok Sabha.
