In the case of attack on spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Bangalore police has said that it is pursuing some leads in the case but treating it as an incident not an attack, said media reports.

“We won’t consider this as an attack as the shot was not aimed at him. No one has seen attacker. A case filed under the Arms Act and the ashram security will be stepped up,” DGP Ajai Kumar Singh was quoted as saying.

Singh revealed that the weapon used in the attack was identified and it was a .32 calibre gun and the bullet was fired from 700 feet or beyond, reports said.

Earlier in the morning, guru Ravi Shankar said that he has forgiven the attacker.

Talking to media at his ashram in the morning, Ravi Shankar said, “I heard a loud noise. But I was in my usual calm self. My driver had a premonition that there could be some kind of attack on me.”

Shankar had a narrow escape yesterday when an unidentified gunman shot at his car while he was on his way back after delivering a discourse, reports said.

“I do not have enemies. However, whoever has done this, I forgive him. I give him amnesty. I invite him to join our satsang course. I will teach him meditation and Sudarshan Kriya,” the spiritual guru was quoted as saying.

The 54-year-old Art of Living founder said that he was happy with the existing security cover, which police stepped up after last evening’s incident, said reports.

Police is yet to identify the gunman who attacked the spiritual guru.
