BHOPAL: Currently there are about 90 lakh 3G users in India. Now Bhopal, Indore and Raipur, along with 14 other cities of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, will be the first in the country to avail the service. The government is planning to introduce 4G connectivity in telecom sector from next year.

Augere, a Britain based company, has signed a contract with Ericsson to launch the service which will be introduced by the brand name Zoosh. This has been confirmed by the company’s CEO as well. Vijay Jain, Augere’s chief technical officer, said that Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Ujjain, Gwalior, Raipur, Durg and Bhilai from Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are the major cities where the 4G services will be introduced.

He said that as the number of broadband users in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh is quite low, it would be easier to launch 4G in these states.

A test run of the service will be done in November before launching 4G and it is expected that both the states will have 4G connectivity by January 2012.

As compared to the current 3G4G connectivity will be much faster and will allow data transfer upto the speed of 1 GBPS (Gigabytes per second). This would considerably increase downloading speeds.
