Patil: Meltdown altered global economics

Presidents President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil on Thursday said that the current global financial crisis had altered the dynamics of global economy and stressed the need to re-assess issues pertaining to global financial security. The President was addressing the 25th convocation of the Rajasthan University at Jaipur.

She added that universities should study the socio-economic impact of the financial down-turn on the society.

Noting that universities helped a nation in giving it economy vitality and global competitiveness, Patil urged universities to assess the requirements of job markets.

Stressing on the need of women education, the President said that education empowers them to take their own decisions.

She further stressed the need for quality education with correct values and said that these values will transform the youth into an incredible force of change and progress.

On the occasion, Governor of Rajasthan and Chancellor of Rajasthan Universities, SK Singh honoured three scientists Govardhan Mehta, RN Agarwal and Suresh Bhargava with honorary doctorates.
