Pak Not to Arrest Saeed on Ground of Indian Dossiers

Pakistani officials have decided not to take Jamaat-ud-Dawah chief and 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed into custody on the ground of new dossiers handed over by India claiming that they don’t have ‘actionable intelligence’, said media reports.
The News reported quoting unnamed sources that following a ‘careful study’ of the three dossiers given by India during the foreign secretary level talks, authorities in Pakistan decided to send an answer in a ‘couple of days’, said reports.
Reports said that Pakistan would, however, not hand over Saeed to India.
On Tuesday, home minister P Chidambaram had expressed regret that Pakistani government allowed Saeed to make ‘provocative and insidious’ speeches and insisted on a probe for his role in the 26/11 terror attack in Mumbai.
It is believed that one of the three dossiers provided by India contains fresh evidence against Saeed.
According to reports, the News reported that the Pakistan government has ‘no plan to extend an invitation to the Indian Foreign Secretary to visit Pakistan soon because Islamabad believes that the talks must be structured and preferably under the framework of the composite dialogue’.
Report said that Pakistan intends to provide more than three dossiers on its grievances.
The dossiers will include evidence of India’s alleged involvement in ‘terror activities’ on Pakistani soil.
Pakistan government think the foreign secretary level talks was not ‘productive’ due to lack of any tangible outcome but at the same time it was not an ‘utter failure’, for both sides agreed to maintain contacts, report said.
