The much crucial meeting between BJP central leadership and beleaguered Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa to end the ongoing stalemate has ended without a conclusion but the leaders are expected to meet again.

Following denial by dissident leader Janardhana Reddy to meet Yeddyurappa, BJP president Rajnath Singh held a meeting with senior party leaders in New Delhi to resolve the impasse.

Leaders with whom Singh held meeting included Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley, Venkaiah Naidu and Ananth Kumar.

Yeddyurappa, while leaving the meeting venue, said that he would meeting Singh and other senior leaders again.

“Talks are still on,” Naidu said, after the meeting.

According to reports, Naidu and Swaraj, whom the dissidents met earlier, tried to convince Yeddyurappa on certain demands of the Reddy brothers but no consensus could be reached.

It should be noted that Yeddyurappa has sent friendship gestures to the dissidents and even held meeting with Speaker Jagadish Shettar, Reddys’ chief ministerial candidate, the Reddy brothers still declined to meet him.

Earlier in the day, Yeddyurappa had said that he was trying his “level best to meet the Reddy brothers (Tourism Minister Janardhana Reddy and Revenue Minister Karunakara Reddy) today” to resolve the crisis.

The Reddy brothers are leading a campaign for ouster of Yeddyurappa and have met senior leaders here in this regard.

“I have been here for three days and have met senior party leaders. I am confident that they will take a decision in the interest of Karnataka and in the interest of BJP,” Janardhana Reddy said.

Yeddyurappa and the central leadership have ruled out change of guard in Karnataka but are open to negotiations with the Reddy brothers on their other demands.
