The NCP has swept Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections bagging 55 out of a total of 89 seats, said media reports.

The Shiv Sena-BJP combine captured Aurangabad winning 37 seats, said reports.

However, Raj Thackeray’s MNS surprisingly couldn’t manage to win even a single seat in the Navi Mumbai and won only one seat in Aurangabad, while Congress party bagged 11 seats in Navi Mumbai and 24 in Aurangabad, reports said.

Now the next battle in both the municipalities will be over the post of mayor for which political parties are now gearing up.

The elections for the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation were held on Sunday along with the civic elections in Aurangabad, Ambernath and Kulgaon Badlapur.
