Responding to President Barack Obama’s announcement to deploy 30000 more US troops in Afghanistan, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said Friday that at least 25 countries will draft a total of about 7,000 additional troops to the war.

“At least 25 countries will send more forces to the mission in 2010,” he told reporters while addressing a news conference after NATO foreign ministers met with representatives of non-NATO countries that have forces in Afghanistan.

US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, hailed the decision as ‘positive’ as she urged allies to rally behind the new US policy on Afghanistan.
