Meeting of Congress core committee held over Anna’s issue

NEW DELHI: On Friday Prime Minister Manmohan Singh held discussions with senior government and party colleagues to discuss a way out with the Government in a fix over Anna Hazare’s agitation over Lokpal bill.

It was against the backdrop of Hazare setting a deadline of Aug 30 for the government to get the Janlokpal Bill passed in Parliament by Aug 30 failing which he decided to continue his fast “till my last breath”.

Meeting chaired by PM was attended by Congress Core Committee members including Union Ministers Pranab Mukherjee, P Chidambaram, A K Antony and Gandhi’s political secretary Ahmed Patel.
