For the purpose of monitoring, all seven medical colleges and hospitals in the state will be connected with the health ministry by close circuit TV (CCTV), said an official.

A decision in this regard was taken at a joint meeting of the autonomous committee of the six medical colleges situated at Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Rewa and Sagar and the dental college at Indore. Health and Medical Education minister Anup Mishra attended the meeting.

The minister said that the medical colleges and hospitals would be connected with CCTV so that monitoring could be done from Bhopal.

According to an official, e-libraries, linked to the national library in Kolkata, would be set up at all the medical colleges.

Besides, it was also decided at the meeting that separate medicine stores would be set up for the general patients and the below poverty line (BPL) patients getting treatment under the Deendayal Antyodaya Upachar Yojana.

An official said that the minister warned against any BPL patient being asked to purchase medicines from the open market. They could buy medicines from pharmacies that are required to have a minimum stock of ten days, he said.
