Ready to join Opposition only if BSP gets respectable seat share: Mayawati

Lucknow: Keeping the Samajwadi Party and the Congress guessing, BSP supremo Mayawati said that she is ready to join hands with opposition parties to stop the BJP in upcoming elections only if her party is given
a respectable number of seats. “Otherwise the BSP will contest elections alone,” she said.
Mayawati also said the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were responsible for allowing fugitive liquor baron Vijay Mallya to flee the country after defrauding banks of thousands of crores of rupees.
Speaking during a press conference in Lucknow, Mayawati attacked the BJP and accused it of “politicising” the death of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. She said the BJP “needs to be exposed” before the
people for damage it has caused due to demonetisation.
Mayawati also distanced herself from Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar (alias Ravan) who was released by the Uttar Pradesh government earlier this week. Chandrashekhar was arrested in connection with the
Saharanpur violence in 2017. Mayawati said some people are trying to associate themselves with her and are calling her bua (aunt) for political reasons.
“I have nothing to with them. Recently a person responsible for the violence in Saharanpur tried to associate with me. I would like to say that I have nothing to do with him. This is the BJP’s game plan,” she said.
