November 30, 2009 Visionmp.com news service

The Question Hour in the Lok Sabha was on Monday cut short when parliamentarians who had earlier give notice to ask questions did not turn up in the House.

Speaker Meira Kumar invited MPs to ask questions but, due to absence of members who were to ask questions, only two questions were raised, one related to defence and other to rural development.

Kumar carried on with the proceedings of the Question Hour amid protests by CPM, BSP, and SP members for sending a central team to take a stock of law and order situation in West Bengal.

Shouting slogans against the central team, CPM and SP members marched upto the speaker’s podium. The BSP also supported the demand.

After completing the procedure of the question hour, the speaker adjourned the house at 1130 hrs IST for half an hour.
