Lahore HC Dismisses Case against 26/11 Mastermind Saeed

Pakistan’s Lahore High Court has dismissed an FIR registered against JuD chief and suspected mastermind of last year’s Mumbai terror attacks under anti-terrorism act.

While dismissing the case, the high court said that anti-terror law doesn’t apply to Saeed.

Saeed is the alleged master mind of the 26/11 attacks in which over 170 people were killed.

His counsel has all along claimed the case against his client was weak.

It should be mentioned that yesterday, an anti-terror court had formally indicted LeT’s operations chief Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi and six other suspects arrested in connection with the attacks and put off the case for a week.

Judge Baqir Ali Rana, conducting the trial behind closed doors at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, formally charged the suspects yesterday after hearing arguments by prosecution and defence lawyers, sources said.

Though, there was no official word on the proceedings due to a gag order imposed by the court. The judge scheduled the next hearing for October 17.

However, Khwaja Sultan, one of the four defence lawyers, raised objections about the manner in which the suspects were indicted.
