Koda Aide Surrenders

An alleged aide of former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda on Monday surrendered before the Income Tax department in Ranchi, the tax sleuths are investigating an alleged hawala and illegal investments case involving Koda and his aides.

Devendra Mukhia is one of the four people, who failed to meet the November 6 deadline set by the IT department to appear before it for questioning in connection with the multi-crore crore case.

The scam was unearthed after tax sleuths conducted pan-India raids across 76 locations on October 31.

Koda, who served as minister for Mines in the Arjun Munda government, had retained the portfolio after taking over the reigns in September 2006.

He is scheduled to appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on November 11.
