Kidney Patient Dies as PM’s Security Stops him, PMO Orders Probe

A patient with some renal disease died at a hospital in Chandigarh when the security officials of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh allegedly stopped him.

According to reports, the PMO has ordered an inquiry into the incident that took place at a hospital where PM attended two functions on Tuesday.

A report from the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) said that the patient, 32, hailing from Ambala, was being rushed for urgent treatment for kidney failure.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh attended two convocations in Chandigarh. He is also scheduled to attend a special convocation at his alma mater Punjab University where he will be honoured with a Doctor of Laws degree.

This is his first visit to PU, where he was a postgraduate student and later joined as a faculty member.
