The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has instructed the police to dig up bodies of the rape and murder victims in the Shopian for a fresh post mortem.

The order of the court, delivered to probe the matter, is conditional, which can be carried out only on the consent of victims’ family members.

This order comes a day after the court asked the Special Investigation Team to interrogate all suspended officials. The court has also asked for narco tests to be conducted if necessary.

Bodies of Asiya (17) and her pregnant sister-in-law Nelofar (22) were recovered from a stream in Shopian, 52 km from Srinagar, on May 30 after they went missing from their orchard on the previous day.

Separatists had called for protests after the incident which affected normal life in Shopian town.
