August 5, 2009 Visionmp.com news service

For joining a newly formed union, Jet Airways has fired its two pilots, said media reports.

According to reports, Captain Balaraman and Captain Sam Thomas were sacked after they joined the National Aviators Guild which was registered with the Labour Commissioner in Mumbai last month.

Nearly 600 members of the union are supporting the two pilots and trying hard to get them re-instated, failing which they plan to confront the management.

Reports said citing sources that Jet employees going on strike over the sacking is not ruled out.

In November 2008, Jet had sacked 32 foreign pilots in order to cut cost.
