India has give assurance to China that Tibetans living in India will not be permitted to carry out anti-China activities from Indian soil, said media reports.

The assurance came when Chinese leadership broached upon the issue with President Pratibha Patil, who is on a six-day visit to China, reports said.

Last year, two countries clashed over a number of issues putting the bilateral relations in a difficult phase.

Patil stressed on the need for two countries to work together in her meeting with Chinese leaders, said reports.

She also attended a reception in her honour hosted by the Indian Embassy on Friday. China’s Vice-President Xi Jinping was also present at the reception.
