ICC to Set up Committee to Iron out WADA Worries

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday announced that a new committee would soon be constituted to resolve the ongoing row over Indian cricketers’ refusal to sign in a global drugs code.
Refusing to put ink to the dotted line, the players attributed their decision to the unacceptability of the privacy infringing whereabouts clause of the WADA code.
The players’ contentions met with the approval of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday.
The contentious clause makes it mandatory for players to detail their whereabouts for an hour between 0600 hours and 2300 hours every day for the next three months to allow random testing.
The big boys of Indian cricket, often in the news for reasons other than their prowess on the field, are the only ones to not have adhered to the August One deadline, set by the ICC, for the signing of the WADA documents.
As per the WADA code, anyone missing three doping tests in 18 months could end up with a two year ban from the arena.
