Headley’s Mumbai Accommodation Chased as NIA Investigates 26/11 Link

The suspected Lashkar operative David Coleman Headley, who was arrested by the FBI last month in Chicago for masterminding terror strikes in India and Denmark, had stayed at an apartment in Breach Candy area in Mumbai for less than a year, said media reports.
According reports, Headley stayed as a paying guest with a Sindhi couple in apartment number 56 of A Block on the fifth floor of Nivas building till April 2008.
David Headley visited the 'Osho Ashram' in Pune twice during 2008-2009, a top police official said on Tuesday. "Headley stayed in the city for a day in June 2008 and March 2009 and visited the Ashram, frequented by foreigners," Ravindra Sengaonkar, DCP, Crime, said. According to Ashram officials, he visited the establishment at Koregaon Park for meditation, he said.
Notably, the building is situated only five-minute-walk away from US consulate building. This information came to light following efforts of the investigating agencies to retrace the steps of Headley and his aide Tahawwur Rana across India.
Headley had told the elderly couple with whom he lived that he was running an immigration agency in the city.
Reports also said that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is probing Headley’s possible role in the Mumbai terror attacks last November.
NIA officials, reports said, believe that it would be too early to rule out his involvement in attacks.
Investigators, probing the terror links on Headley and Rana have found that both the suspects were moving freely in Pakistan, from where the Mumbai attackers had come, reports said.
More than 20 teams of sleuths of NIA are probing Headley-Rana trail and central security agencies have been formed for gathering information about the places the duo had visited between 2006 and 2009.
