HC Dismisses Cong Leader’s Bail Plea in Nayak’s Murder Case

August 20, 2009 Visionmp.com news service

In connection with murder of the BJP leader Sunil Nayak, the Madhya Pradesh High Court has dismissed the bail petition filed by Congress MLA Brijendra Singh Rathore and five other accused.

Justice Rakesh Saxena, hearing the bail application, admitted apprehensions expressed by Nayak’s wife and her counsel Adarsh Muni Trivedi that the accused may misuse their position and threaten witnesses thus adversely affecting the case.

Ms Nayak submitted that on the date of polling in November last year, Rathore and his brothers had captured the polling booths of Prithvipur constituency.

Subsequently when Nayak rushed to the spot with his brother with a view to avert booth capturing, Rathore and friends opened fire on him and he died minutes after the polling drew to a close.
