Govt Sanctions Rs 3000 Cr for Construction of Main Roads in Districts

The state government is going to construct 2100 kms long stretches of main roads in several districts with funds of Rs 3000 crore under ‘annuity system’, said media reports.

An official spokesperson said that chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan presided over a meeting of MP Road Development Corporation (MPRDC) at the Mantralaya in which proposals to construct main road under annuity system were sanctioned, reports said.

Under the ‘annuity system’, a contract is offered on the condition of maintaining the road for 15 years inclusive of one-and-half to two years of construction period.

Also, other MPRDC’s schemes worth Rs 13,600 were sanctioned for three years, said reports.

The schemes include construction of 2,100 kilometre long district main roads with funds worth Rs 3000 crore and of another 711 kilometre long roads on BOT basis at a cost of Rs 1255 crore, reports said.

Besides, the Corporation will also undertake construction of 835 kilometre long roads at a cost of Rs 4299 crore under the fourth phase of National Highways Development Scheme and 24 border check posts at a cost of Rs 1150 crore during the next three years, said reports.

Similarly, the meeting also approved maintenance of newly constructed 1122 kilometre long roads under maintenance and toll tax scheme, reports said.
