November 23, 2009 Visionmp.com news service

Four United States troops have died fighting in Afghanistan in the last 24 hours, said the NATO in a statement issued Monday. No details of the casualties were available.

According to reports, three US troops died in southern Afghanistan in two separate incidents on Sunday while a fourth died in a roadside bomb attack in eastern Afghanistan on Monday.

The casualties came as the Obama administration continued deliberations on increasing the number of American forces in the country.

Of the three casualties on Sunday one was caused by a small arms attack by insurgents, the other two killed by a roadside bomb explosion.

The United States is considering an increase of up to 40,000 troops to supplement its present troop strength of around 68,000 soldiers currently deployed in Afghanistan.
