* Including other types of meat, such as lean beef and chicken, which have a lower fat content.
* Remove the visible fat during preparation and avoid heavy meat preparations during this season.
* Limit consumption of internal organs, which contain large amounts of fat and cholesterol, specially for patients with cholesterol, diabetics and cardiac issues.
* Try to have one main mutton meal served during the day:- it is preferable not to postpone this meal to the late evening hours.
* Include various fresh and cooked vegetables, salads, legumes, whole grains, low-fat dairy product, fruits to make your festive meal more nutritious..
* Curtail the amount of carbonated and sugar-sweetened beverages such as fizz and soft drinks as it may cause bloating issues during this season.
* Sip water between and during meals and can also have green tea post meals.
* Persons suffering from chronic diseases should consult with your physician and a dietitian regarding the amount of meat that they can consume.
