Union New and Renewable Energy Minister Farooq Abdullah today called on Home Minister P Chidambaram and sought help for his son and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to tide over the crisis in the valley, said media reports.
IANS quoted officials at the Jammu and Kashmir House as saying that the former chief minister requested assistance so that the younger Abdullah could tide over the volatile situation, reports said.
The Kashmir Valley has been tense for days after security forces shot dead nearly a dozen people during street protests. The violence has led to curfew that continues.
Farooq Abdullah later left for Srinagar, where Omar Abdullah has called an all-party meeting on Monday.
