Deora Clears Stand on Gas Row

Clarifying government’s stand on gas row in Parliament, Oil Minister Murli Deora has said that gast from RIL’s D6 block will be used as per the gas utilization policy and that no gas from D6 block has been allotted any non-functional plant.

He said that gas supply to existing power plants is the first priority and that Dadri’s plant, as of now, is neither installed nor functional.

He denied any bias towards Uttar Pradesh in D6 gas allocation. He said that the government will allocate gas to Dadri plant subject to availability when the plant is functional.

Deora’s statement on gas to Dadri power project is in response to the issue raised by Samajwadi Party members in Lok Sabha on July 29, a day after Anil Ambani accused Oil Ministry of colluding with elder brother Mukesh Ambani-led RIL in its design to make super-normal profit of Rs 50,000 crore.

On the gas row between the Ambani brothers, he said that the government has nothing to do with the private dispute but it will take will take all steps to protect government’s legal rights in the D6 row.
