Debo Kumar Bora killed in an accident

JORHAT: Debo Kumar Bora Assam Chief Minister Tarun Goigoi’s former press adviser was killed and his wife, son, driver and PSO injured when their car hit by a stationary truck in upper Assam’s Golaghat district.

Congress sources said Bora was travelling overnight to arrange chief minister Tarun Gogoi’s press conference in Jorhat.

According to official sources, Bora’s wife, who received serious injuries, son, driver and PSO were admitted to the Jorhat Medical College Hospital after the accident at Rongajan near the Kaziranga National Park around 2.20 am.

Bora’s body was taken to his home town Titabor in Jorhat district.

The poll campaign in Jorhat district was cancelled. Also Political parties including the AGP condoled Bora’s death.

Gogoi described him as a dedicated Congress worker, conveying his condolence to the bereaved family.

Debo Kumar Bora was a front-ranking leader of the anti-foreigners agitation in Assam and then agriculture minister in the Prafulla Kumar Mahanta-led AGP government between 1985-91.

Before joining the Congress, he was editor of the highly popular Assamese newspaper Dainik Janambhumi.

Bora was attached to Gogoi as press advisor for the last ten yearS.
