Cong-NCP Seat Sharing Talks Today

September 15, 2009 Visionmp.com news service

The Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) will meet on Tuesday to work out a seat sharing arrangement for the October 13 Maharashtra assembly elections.

Senior NCP leaders, including Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel, Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal and Maharashtra NCP chief RR Patil, are set to attend the meeting.

In 2004, the Congress contested 157 of the 288 seats and the NCP fought for 127 seats, but since the stunning Lok Sabha victory earlier this year, the state Congress leadership has repeatedly urged the party to contest the Assembly polls on its own steam.
