Chouhan writes to ministers over incongruous Central allocations

With the Center continuing to play truant with the state, Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has shot off missives to Union Ministers belonging to the State and called for their intervention over the unfair treatment being meted out to the state.
In is communication, Chouhan has attempted to draw attention of Union Ministers Arjun Singh, Kamal Nath, Kantilal Bhuria and Jyotiraditya Scindia towards the inadequate coal and power supply provisioned to the state by the Center and several other issues.
Chouhan said, the constitution of the country and relevant traditions demand that all states be treated in a fair and just manner, said officials in Bhopal on Thursday.
“Dependence of States on the Centre in matters related to concurrent and central subjects is a natural demand and therefore the executive decisions on such issues should not be taken in such a manner which leads to discrimination against any particular State,” Chouhan said.
The chief minister launched ‘Coal Satyagraha’ last week and plans to stage a ‘Coal March’ in New Delhi on March 2.
Apart from coal, the other issues highlighted by Chouhan include reduction in unallocated power from the central pool, non-provision of drought relief assistance and incongruous allocations under the Indira Awas Yojna.
