PATNA (PTI): On Monday Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh boycotted the Planning Commission meet as he was opposed to making civil rights activist Binayak Sen a member of the panel’s committee on Health.

According to sources, CM did not turn up for the Regional Consultation of five Eastern States to the Approach Paper for 12th plan period called by Planning Commission.

Well Dr. Sen was also not present at the meeting, said sources.

Singh boycotted the planning commission meet as he was opposed to making Sen a Steering Committee member of its committee on Health in accordance with the stand taken by him earlier.

Deputy Chairman of State Planning Commission Shivraj Singh represented Chhattisgarh.

Sen was serving a life sentence after being convicted over charges of sedition for his alleged Maoist links. “That is between Raman Singh and Planning Commission.

Dr. Sen, who was released on bail last month after spending months in custody, said he had no comments to make on the stand taken by Raman Singh. Sen said, “I am very thankful to them (Planning Commission) for appointing me and government of Chattisgarh has responded very bitterly to my appointment.”
