Maoists Kill Three Persons in WB

Three persons, including an activist of West Bengal’s ruling CPM, have been killed by suspected Maoists in separate incidents across the state, said media reports citing police.

In separate incidents occurred last night, Nirmol Soren, zonal committee member of the CPM, was shot dead at Nemaipur village near Simlipal in Bankura; a local businessman Kartik Chalak was hacked to death at Bandhgora near Jhargram in West Midnapore district; and another CPM supporter Pijus Kanti Mahato was shot dead in Pukuria village near Jhargram, reports said.

Additional Superintendent of Police of Bankur, Sisram Jhajharia, said that Soren was dragged out of his house Thursday night by rebels, said reports.

“His body was found lying on the road near Nemaipur village this morning,” he was quoted as saying.

Though police suspect Maoists to behind Kartik’s murder, his family alleged he was killed over a land dispute.
