May 19, 2010 Visionmp.com news service

As Naga students have blocked two national highways for over a month, the BSF has bee deployed on road link between Manipur and Silchar in Assam so that life-saving drugs and foodgrains can be brought to Imphal, said media reports.

Officials said that BSP troopers were deployed on the National Highway to fetch oil tankers, trucks laden with goods and other vehicles stranded at Jiribam, some 200 km from Imphal, on Manipur-Assam border, reports said.

The Naga students have blocked the highways in protest against holding of election to the autonomous district councils in the hill districts of Manipur and Manipur government’s decision to prevent NSCN (I-M) leader T Muivah from visiting his native Somdal village in Ukhrul district.
