BSF, Pak Rangers Hold Flag Meeting

Border Security Force officials and Pakistani Rangers held a flag meeting in the Sialkot sector on Sunday to discuss Islamabad’s protests over alleged ceasefire violations along the frontier, said media reports.
The meeting came in the wake of Islamabad’s protests over alleged violations of the ceasefire agreement by the BSF along the border at midnight on Saturday.
The reports, citing a statement issued by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said Pakistani officials rejected BSF’s contention that some individuals were attempting to cross the border from the Pakistani side.
The Pakistani border officials contended that the sound of firing was heard inside Indian territory close to the boundary and that there was no movement from the Pakistan side.
Pakistan, in recent months, has repeatedly accused Indian troops of indulging in “indiscriminate and unprovoked firing” along the border on several occasions.
India has rejected the claims.
Separately, a BSF patrol party shot down a suspected infiltrator in the Ramgarh sector on Sunday along the barbed wire fence in Ramgarh sub sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
The patrol men opened fire, after the intruder attempted to flee to the Pakistani side.
The BSF has launched a massive search operation in the area.
