Bombay HC Allows Kurbaan Release

November 19, 2009 Visionmp.com news service

The Bombay High Court on Thursday refused to stay the release of the Kareena-Saif starrer Kurbaan, slated for release tomorrow, but sought the responses from filmmaker and actors of the film.

A division bench of comprising of Chief Justice Swatanter Kumar and Justice AM Khanvilkar slated the next hearing for January 14, 2010.

The division bench declined both pleas filed by petitioner Mohammed Ali, who demanded that the film’s release be stayed or “two objectionable songs” be deleted.

The petitioner contended that the two songs in question included one that plays in the background as Kareena and Saif share intimate moments, said media reports.

Advocate S Kunjuraman, who was representing Ali, said the court took a serious note of the lyrics of the two songs and also sought responses from the director and lyricists of the movie.

Ali, later, said he will soon move the same petition in the Supreme Court.
