Anti-Sikh Riots Case: Delhi HC Grants Bail to Sajjan Kumar

February 26, 2010 Visionmp.com news service

Delhi High Court has granted bail to senior Congress leader Sajjan Kumar in two 1984 anti-Sikh riots cases, reported the Times of India.

Yesterday, Kumar’s personal security officer was put under suspension for making a false diary entry on the leader’s whereabouts which, according to police, helped Kumar leave his bungalow and go into hiding on February 19.

CBI informed the court on February 23 that they couldn’t take Kumar into custody as he could not be located, which prompted the court to snub the investigating agency for ‘not being serious’ about apprehending the Congress leader.

On January 13, CBI had chargesheeted Kumar in two separate cases of allegedly making provocative speeches which led to the killing of 12 persons in 1984 following Indira Gandhi’s assassination.

The court had issued non-bailable warrants against him.
