Andhra Cong MP Slaps Bank Manager; Sonia Seeks Report

Hours after a case was book against a Congress MP for allegedly slapping a bank manager in Andhra Pradesh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi has sought a report into the incidence.
Veerappa Moily, All India Congress Committee in-charge for Andhra Pradesh, asked the state Congress unit to explain the incidence.
In the meanwhile, MP from Nagarkurnool Manda Jagannatham who reportedly slapped Ravinder Reddy, manager of a local branch of Andhra Pradesh Grameen Vikas Bank for not releasing loans to SC/ST beneficiaries, says that the incident was an accident and that he didn’t really slap the man.
Jagannatham is supposed to have sought an explanation from the bank manager over the phone after which he went to the bank. A heated exchange followed after which the MP slapped the manager. The manager lodged a police case.
Jagannatham accused the manager of considerately dill-dallying the loans for the SCs and STs. However, the manager says that the task given to him by the MP could not have been completed in a day and that he was just following the protocol.
“I told him I would get it done step by step but he didn’t listen to me. He manhandled me,” claimed Reddy.
Denying all these allegations, Jagannatham says that the manager was drunk at the time of the confrontation and was rudely talking to him.
“He was very rude to me. He should not have spoken to an MP that way. He should have followed protocol. He was completely drunk. A medical test should be conducted,” Jagannatham.
