MP Gaupalan avam Pashudhan Samvardhan Board president Swami Akhileshwaranand Giri said “I appeal to the people to celebrate ‘Cow Hug Day’ on February 14 next in Madhya Pradesh.”

He said “I supported the appeal of Animal Welfare Board of India to celebrate ‘Cow Hug Day’ on February 14 but the appeal is now withdrawn.”

Despite of all these developments, there should be no hesitation to celebrate ‘Cow Hug Day’, one should feel proud to hug cow, he said.

On Friday, the Animal Welfare Board of India withdrawn its appeal to celebrate February 14 as ‘Cow Hug Day’ on February 14 after wide criticism.

It may be mentioned that February 14 is observed as valentine day across the globe.

About a recent news report of cow deaths in a gaushala at Bhopal, he said the gaushala is run by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the foundation stone for this gaushala was laid by me in 1999.

When I alongwith few members of the Board visited the gaushala after reading the news reports.

After inspection I sought report from a committee about the death of the cows and related issues in the gaushala, he said.

He said there was mismanagment in day-to-day functioning of the gaushala, it is instructed to those concerned with the gaushala to remove the discrepancies in their work and ensure they keep separate those stray cow and its progeny handed over by the Bhopal Municipal Corporation so that in case of any eventuality it should be clear whether the cow and its progeny is taken care by the guashala was came directly to it or handed over by the municipal corporation.

Swami Akhileshwaranand said the guidelines are issued to all the gaushalas registered with the Board about how to manage the day to day affairs of the gaushala.

Presently the gaushalas run by the village panchayats need to be taken special attention as they are facing difficulty in maintenance.

There is clear guidelines for cremation of death cow and its progeny which has to be buried in the ground, he said.
