At least five persons were injured when a bridge carrying a huge water pipe came crashing on a local train in Mumbai on Friday, said police.

They said that the accident occurred when a part of the under-construction Kopri water pipeline bridge fell on the Kalyan-bound train at nearly 10.30 am on Friday morning.

Following the mishap, rail services on the central line were disrupted, crippling trains between suburban Kurla and Thane.

Police, fire brigade officials and rail personnel have reached the spot to take stock of the situation and efforts are on to clear the passage.
