Additional 80 Mbbs seats to medical colleges of Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh was allotted additional 80 MBBS seats for Government medical colleges from Government of India today. Minister for Medical Education, Shri Anup Mishra informed that of these, 40 seats are meant for Rewa medical college and 10 each for Gwalior, Indore, Jabalpur and Bhopal. Shri Mishra said that earlier this year 42 PG seats were received by Madhya Pradesh. This is for the first time that Madhya Pradesh government medical colleges have received additional seats after 60 years.  

State Govt. decides to constitute Bhojpuri and Punjabi Sahitya Akademies

Bhopal: In a historic initiative, State Government has constituted Bhojpur and Punjabi Sahitya Akademies. These academies will be run by Madhya Pradesh Culture Department like other academies in the state. 6.25 crore saplings planted under Hariyali Mahotsav

Bhopal: About 6 crore 26 lakh saplings have been planted under Hariyali Mahotsav in the state since June 1, 2013. Forest Department has set a target of planting 7 crore saplings during monsoon. Process is underway to plant remaining saplings. This year, importance is being given to plantation on land outside forest areas. For this, Forest Department had provided 42 lakh seeds to nurseries. US returns stolen Saddam Huseeein’s sword to Iraq

Washington: A gold-laden sword looted from ousted Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein’s personal office of Iraq has been returned to Iraqi authorities. The Homeland Security Department on Monday returned the 43-inch sword with an embellished blade and sheath with gold inlaid Arabic writing to the Iraqi Ambassador. The sword was seized by the US government in January 2012 after it was found for sale at an auction in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Spanish train derailed as pilot was on phone: court

Madrid: The driver of the train, which derailed and killed 79 people last week in Spain, was speaking on his phone when the accident occurred, a Spainsh court has found. Investigators said that Francisco Jose Garzon, the train driver, received a call from the staff of the rail company Renfe to discuss the route he needed to follow, a news agency reported on Tuesday. Colombo: Sixty-five Indian fishermen in nine trawlers have been detained by the Sri Lankan Navy for allegedly violating the international maritime border. Naval spokesman Commander Kosala Warnakulasuriya has said that 34 of them in five trawlers were arrested off the coast north of Point Pedro in the north on Tuesday, while another 31 were arrested east of Mullaithivu along with four vessels.
