State government to compensate crop loss of farmers: CM

Bhopal. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the state government will compensate crop loss of farmers. Government stands by farmers in their hour of crisis. Farmers’ problems and difficulties will be solved unitedly. Shri Chouhan was addressing hailstorm-affected farmers at village Kachra in Ghuwara tahasil of Chhatarpur district today.

The Chief Minister said that on 50 percent loss of crop due to hailstorm, affected farmers will be given relief at Rs. 15 thousand per hectare. No loan recovery will be made from affected farmers this year. Interest of loan will be borne by state government for one year. He said that loans at zero percent interest rate will be given to purchase seeds and fertilizers to farmers for next year’s Kharif crop. The farmers whose over 50 percent crops have been affected will be provided wheat, rice and salt at Re. one per kg till next crop. Amount of Rs. 25 thousand will be given separately for marriage of their daughters. Besides, farmers will also be given crop insurance amount on the basis of crop cutting experiment.

The Chief Minister directed for survey of damaged crops earnestly, fairly and transparently. He said that a joint team of Revenue, Rural Development and Agriculture departments will undertake survey of crops. He urged public representatives to cooperate in this process. He said that list of survey will be displayed at Gram Panchayat building to eliminate any irregularities. There would be no shortage of funds for relief.

The Chief Minister said that 113 villages in Chhatarpur district have been affected by hailstorm. He announced ex-gratia of Rs. 4 lakh each to kin of 2 persons who were electrocuted in the district. He gave a patient hearing to villagers and assured to solve their problems. Local MLA Smt. Rekha Yadav and officers were present on the occasion.
